Welcome to the Jayamandi Blog
Thank you for visiting my blog and allowing me to share my love and passion for Africa and conservation with you.
This blog has a focus on two main topics.
The first topic covers conservation and serves to inform you on miraculous conservation efforts across the African continent and how you can get involved. I will also share fun and interesting facts about the African bushveld and the remarkable animals which call it home.
The second topic is focused on travel, and here you can learn about unique destinations and extraordinary experiences destined to leave a mark on your soul. I will share travel tips and stories of the unforgettable journeys that travelers have had with Jayamandi African Adventures.
My ambition for this blog is to grow the Jayamandi brand into a recognisable and trusted partner for African travellers and wildlife lovers. To share stories, experieces, knowledge and information about the natural and cultural realm of African, which will illuminate your own experiences when exploring this magnificent continent.
I hope this blog ignites a fire in your soul that only adventure can extinguish and that you choose Jayamandi African Adventures as your travel partner.
Growing up, I had the enoromous privilege of spending nearly every holiday on a game reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park. Completely raw and unfenced, this experience fostered a deep love and appreciation for the African wilderness.
It was through these experiences, which I still continue to have, that I developed my knowledge of the Lowveld and the wondeful creatures which roam its landscapes.
That being said... I do not conduct any professional game drives or bush walks myself. As I do not have any official training my knowledge and expertise is limited, and I strive to give my clients the best experiences possible. The professional wildlife guides of Southern and Eastern Africa are among the most impressive naturalists you will ever encounter and their infectious passion will certainly have you yearning for the bushveld once you leave.
With this blog, I hope to build a community of like-minded individuals who can make their own contribution to conservation in the near future, and even plan some wild adventures with us. I therefore encourage all of you to reach out to me via email, Facebook or Instagram if you have any questions, suggestions or stories you may like to share.
In this blog you can expect to find stories and parables, knowledge and information.
The conservation side of the blog will focus on the efforts of brilliant people, past and present, who are fighting against all odds to preserve the wild lands and creatures of Africa.
The travel side will provid you with insights on Southern Africa's best kept secrets, from extraordinary experiences to breathtaking accommodations. From rustic campsites to luxurius lodges.
As a result, readers will be aware of any conservation efforts which align with their values and will know exactly how and where they can help and contribute.
Readers will also be more informed on Southern Africa's travel destinations and how they can make the most of their adventure.
If you are reading this, I want to express my gratitude and thank you for visiting my blog. I encourage you to subscribe to our mailing list and follow us on Instagram. Get involved in the small, but growing community and ask us questions and provide insights you might find interesting.
And finally, if you are planning on visiting Africa get in touch. We are here to help you plan and co-ordinate the best adventure you can manage.
Hey, I am Jordan van Schalkwyk
I am a Bachelor's of Commerce graduate who had dedicated my after-study years to my job which led me onto the corporate path.
I, however, decided to leave that path and to follow my passion for conservation and traveling Africa.
Spending a lot of my youth on a game reserve in the Greater Kruger National park, I have developed a profound appreciation of the African wilderness and have always aimed to align my career path with this passion.
What you are witnessing here is the beginning of that journey. But this blog is not about me, it is about the interesting and paradisical realm of Sub-Sahara Africa. Where the land, history and cultures are rich, vibrant and waiting to be explored.
